Vintage 2014 by Tim Atkin
96 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze
Grand Cru 2014
(£870 Go, J&B, Jer)
Some Clos de Bèze wines can be closed and unapproachable in their youth, but this isn't one of them. It's another complex, nuanced, all-too-drinkable Grand Cru from Caroline Drouhin. Fine tannins, notes of fresh tobacco and red cherry and strawberry fruit underscored by minerality. 2019-25
96 Latricières-Chambertin
Grand Cru 2014
(£690 HH&C, Go, J&B)
The change of generation in 2014 has resulted in a shift in style at this domaine, xith less evident extracton in the wines. This is a very attractive, perfumed Latricières with subtle, refined oak, spicy, succulent, red berry flavours, a lick of chalk and a lingering finish. 2019-25
95 Bonnes Mares
Grand Cru 2014
(£730 HH&C, Go, J&B, Jer)
Sourced from a 1,5 hectare parcel of Bonnes Mares on red soils on the Morey side of the Grand Cru, this is another finely judged wine from Caroline Drouhin. Oak balance, sweet berry fruit, a hint of good reduction and textured, nuanced tannins. A domaine that's on the up. 2019-25
